Did You Know?
How to Build a Network
There are several key elements to building a quality network. Some of these are courtesy, respect, and persistence.
When constructing a network, these elements are going to play a key role in its development. The courtesy you show to potential partners is essential to the development of reliable contacts; the respect you show to their ideas and opinions lead the way to a dependable and honest estimate of the situation you are looking to resolve; and the persistence you demonstrate with your follow-up and tact will show your networking partners the value of working with you.
Another essential factor in building a network revolves around the tools you use. With the advent of the internet, many valuable resources have sprung into action, giving the diligent a golden opportunity to locate, contact, and recruit high-quality people for their network.
Some of the more popular sites are LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, and Jigsaw. These three networking tools allow the seeker to search for contacts by name, title, or company. With these dynamics, it has become very easy to track down either the individual you seek, many people currently working in the industry you are trying to penetrate, or people of various positions within a certain organization. With all of these resources at the ready, the information found on the internet is worthless if you don't show these helpful people some courtesy and respect. |

Evolution of News:
Instant Access
The American landscape is changing rapidly. There are changes in business and culture virtually every day. With the growth of the economy, and the creation of new business people are struggling to keep up with the nuances of these ever-changing dynamics.
That being said, there are many opportunities to gain quick and simple information about business, politics, culture, and trends. One of these is a simple news paper; USA Today. This publication was the first of its kind to implement the style of "Paragraph
Journalism". This simple technique is one of brevity, details, and readability. The short, concise articles give the reader an "at-a-glance" look at topics in all areas of interest.
Another popular way to get information quickly is the internet. Available to nearly everyone in the United States, this resource allows people to not only access information, but also the ability to customize the news they receive. You have the option of having your news emailed to you hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. You can have your homepage (Google or Yahoo if that's your choice) show you only those areas you are interested in to further streamline your information intake.
Another popular source of news is the Wall Street Journal. They too devised a way to keep the interest of the reader, and also deliver a snapshot of the daily highlights of various topics.
A person reading at a 9th grade level can read over the front page of the Wall Street Journal or USA Today in just minutes, allowing for a broader audience, and a more appealing alternative than wading through pages of material.
This type of information distribution has literally revolutionized the way people get their news and sift through the topics that hold no interest in order to quickly get to the articles and topics that inspire people to continue to read, learn and better themselves. |

Hot Spots:
The History of News
Throughout history, information has been delivered and ingested in various forms. In Roman times, news of the land was spread by word of mouth. If there was any pressing information that must get out to the public, men (boys actually), were sent out into the street to "get the word out" about an important election, debate,or city matter.
As information and news grew in importance, many sailors would hail other ships and pull along side one another and exchange news they had picked up through their travels. This allowed for wary countries to communicate with their neighboring countries to discover the news and plans of mutual advisories.
In some countries, such as England,Criers were set atop bell towers and turrets, and employed to literally shout out the news to the citizens of the country or town.
In addition to these methods, there have been written journals, books, pamphlets, and flyers. These sources of information, for the most part, were available to anyone who could read, but some of those outlets, such as books, were reserved for the rich, powerful, and educated.
Over time, the way information has passed from peer to peer, has obviously changed. The growth of public education and technology has created a need for faster information flow, and thus the Internet.
Since the Internet was created for the single purpose of delivering information, nearly everyone in the world has seen, heard of, or used it. This outlet, has taken over the delivery of news, and has surpassed all other forms of media for the delivery of information.
Now that we live in a world of instant news, the only question now is: What will be the next evolution of the information super highway? |
